The Green Mountain Film Festival Presents: WTO/99

In 1999, protestors convened in Seattle to demonstrate against the anti-democratic, new world order of global capital: the World Trade Organization. In shocking clairvoyance, composed entirely of camcorder footage, news broadcasts, and press conferences, WTO/99 emotionally captures a pivotal moment in the militarization of America’s police force. The plumes of chemical weapons, attacks on peaceful protesters and unassuming bystanders, the confessional admissions of avaricious bureaucrats, and the rallying of national and international labor leaders all make WTO/99, and the events covered, harrowingly necessary viewing. A keystone collective action event, WTO/99 reconstructs a clarion call for the times in which we find ourselves, and begs to know how and when we will overcome the heavily armed minority that continues to siphon the world’s justice and peace for profit.
