The Green Mountain Film Festival Presents: Twice Into Oblivion
In the 1937 Parsley Massacre, Dominican dictator Rafael Trujillo ordered the murder of 20,000 Haitians. Twice Into Oblivion reflects on this brutal history and the wounds it has left in Dominican and Haitian society. Two countries, sharing one island, both with large populations of African descent, and yet intergenerational racism and hatred make it difficult for some Haitians and Dominicans to be in the same room. Working with a group of artists from both sides of the island, Daphné Ménard, a Haitian theater director, attempts to find a way for both groups to heal.
