Movies We Love: a Savoy monthly film series that celebrates the movies we love most. In anticipation of Joachim Trier’s Sentimental Value (opening November 28th)—a reunion for Trier and Renate Reinsve—we’re thrilled to present The Worst Person in the World (nominated at the Academy Awards in 2022 for Best Original Screenplay and Best International Feature Film for Norway).

The Worst Person in the World follows Julie, a woman in her early thirties who drifts between relationships and careers while searching for a sense of direction and meaning. Divided into chapters, the film traces her shifting desires and uncertainties as she navigates love, ambition, and self-discovery in contemporary Oslo. Through Julie’s restlessness and moments of clarity, Joachim Trier captures the quiet confusion of modern adulthood — the feeling of being suspended between possibility and regret, and the challenge of defining oneself in a world that keeps changing.
