Murder, martinis, and a dinner party that won’t quit. Join us Monday, June 8 at 7:00pm for a special Movies We Love x Queer Film Fest screening of Alfred Hitchcock’s ROPE.
About the Film:
ROPE follows Brandon (John Dall) and Phillip (Farley Granger), two privileged young men who commit a murder in their Manhattan apartment and conceal the body in plain sight as the centerpiece of an elegant dinner party. As guests arrive and the evening unfolds in real time, the pair attempt to maintain composure while their former professor, Rupert Cadell (James Stewart), gradually begins to suspect that something is amiss. A formal experiment in cinematic technique from Hitchcock, ROPE is presented as a single continuous take, transforming a private act into an escalating sense of collapse.
About the Director:
Sir Alfred Hitchcock (1899–1980) was an English filmmaker, widely regarded as the “Master of Suspense” and one of the most influential directors in cinema history. In his six-decade career, he pioneered techniques and directed 50+ films including PSYCHO, VERTIGO, and REAR WINDOW.
