The Green Mountain Film Festival Presents: Heightened Scrutiny

In December 2024, Chase Strangio became the first openly transgender lawyer to argue before the Supreme Court as he fought to defend trans kids’ right to medical care. A total of 23 states have passed bans on access to gender affirming treatment for transgender youth since 2021, bolstered by conservative bases and transphobic media coverage. Heightened Scrutiny follows Chase as he prepares for his oral argument against Tennessee’s ban in the U.S. v Skrmetti case and contextualizes the growing attacks on transgender rights in the United States.
