Sex is important. So is friendship, romance and laundry. Join us Saturday, June 13 at 4:30pm for screening of Rose Troche’s GO FISH (1994).
About the Film:
GO FISH is a landmark of New Queer Cinema, produced on a shoestring budget and emerging in the mid-90s as a defining voice in lesbian independent film. Rose Troche’s debut feature follows Max (Guinevere Turner), a young Chicago dyke navigating desire, bad timing, and the ongoing search for connection. When she’s introduced to Ely (V.S. Brodie), attraction collides with awkwardness, hesitation, and emotional baggage neither can quite outrun. Funny, scrappy, and unmistakably of its era, the film captures queer longing as something messy, immediate, and unresolved.
About the Director:
Rose Troche is a filmmaker and television director (THE L WORD, SIX FEET UNDER, GREY’S ANATOMY, LAW & ORDER SVU) known for her groundbreaking work in queer cinema and character-driven storytelling. Her debut feature GO FISH became a landmark of 1990s independent film, helping define a new wave of lesbian representation on screen.
