Vermont filmmaker Bess O’Brien’s new documentary EVERY DAY: BIG AND SMALL looks at the many ways Vermonters show up for one another. Using the 2023 and 2024 floods as a backdrop, the film travels across the state collecting stories of people doing small things that make a real difference in their communities. There’s a teen center helping kids find their place, a farm centered on Black solidarity and joy, girls building their own airplane, a Rutland drag show, a backyard military museum run by a 13-year-old, and a dance class for people with Parkinson’s. Moving between Vermonters as young as eight and well into their 80s, EVERY DAY: BIG AND SMALL is a warm, wide-ranging portrait of community and the people quietly making Vermont a better place to live.
