A profile in courage, “The Advocate” frames the life and work of Lea Tsemel, a Jewish-Israeli attorney who defends Palestinian adults and children before the “kangaroo” military courts of Israel’s occupation regime. It also illuminates the political evolution of a woman mocked as a “devil’s advocate” for refusing be complicit with her country’s judicial racism and crimes against humanity.
